Changed Perspetives

I love crime shows and "who done its" along with action films. I mean at one point in my life most of my TV, movie or even reading consisted of something that would fall into on or more of these categories. Nothing excited me more than a crime drama with some action thrown in. However since the kids have arrived, this has changed somewhat.

While I still enjoy these things (unsolved mysteries, Criminal minds, Law and order) my view point and emotions I experience have changed since the kids have arrived. This is particularly true if a child is involved in the story line. I have even stopped watching the program if it is to disturbing.

I continue to find it surprising how much having kids in my life has impacted EVERY facet of my life. While I certainly expected my time to be affected, I did not fully realize how even the smallest part of me would be included in this change.

I can say my life certainly has changed for the better.

Gone from "Q is for Quarry" to "One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish". And from "The first 48 hours" to "Blues Clues".

I'd say it's definitely worth it. :)

I feel that way now in particular about war movies. Never could watch 'em before, now just thought of it sends me into panic mode, having a son in the Marine Corps. It's so true, we project so much of what we see/hear onto our own children, as parents.
